In this autobiographical journey infused with music and movement, celebrated actor Amy Brenneman takes us along as she learns how to become a true ally to her daughter Charlotte, born with a rare chromosomal abnormality. Funny, poignant, and powerful, Overcome takes a bold look at preconceptions of disability, unexamined ableism, and the promise/challenge of a truly inclusive society. Originally presented at The Yard, this is a workshop of a production now in development at the American Repertory Theater and offers audiences a behind-the-scenes glimpse into its creation.

Martin Luther McCoy, often credited simply as Martin Luther in his music career, is a San Francisco-born singer, songwriter, guitarist, producer, and actor. He is best known for his work with the hip-hop collective The Roots and his breakout role as Jo-Jo in Julie Taymor's 2007 film Across the Universe.

The writer Salman Rushdie survived a harrowing assassination attempt in 2022. Based on the memoir he wrote soon after, and featuring never-before-seen footage by his wife, Rachel Eliza Griffiths, this film documents his physical rehabilitation as well as the restoration of his spirit and optimism. Guided by his own words and directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney (Taxi to the Dark Side), it also explores Rushdie’s lauded but sometimes controversial career, his writing practice, the cultural significance of his work, and how artists who speak out are facing escalating risks.

Martha’s Vineyard, winter, 1975-76. This documentary explores the rewards and challenges of Island life among a generation seeking peace and fulfillment in simplicity and community. From inspired artists to embattled fishermen to hardworking merchants, from a night at the Ritz Café to a day at the erstwhile Artworkers’ Guild, to a wind-whipped voyage on a scalloping boat, the film examines its characters’ hopes and dreams as it presents a portrait of a unique and diverse community from a bygone Vineyard era.
